How to serve

We believe we can make Christ known by "EQUIPPING the saints" (Ephesians 4:12) for service.  Regardless of your age, talents, or gifts there is a place for you to serve.

Our worship band leads worship on most Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.  We have practice fort he worship band on Wednesdays at 5:00 pm and a jam session for those who are interested in joining or just want more practice on Sundays at 5:00 pm.  Both practices are in the youth sanctuary.  If you enjoy singing or playing don't hesitate to contact us or simply show up!

Every time we meet we are in need of students who enjoy expressing their creative side through media ministry.  There are three areas of possible service.  We run Pro-Presenter for our worship slides, video, and scripture.  Enlighten is the lighting program we run that allows us to design and implement our stage lights.  We also need someone to help run the sound board for the worship band.  Each area is completely student led!  The programs are easy to use and training is available!

We offer internship opportunities for college and High School!  College Internship is a part time paid position and can be applied for at the front office.  High School students are able to apply through the school to become a volunteer intern at Mount Vernon for one semester.  Home school students can also volunteer for this position.  As an intern you will be expected to fulfill weekly duties such as data entry, following up with new students, setting up for different youth events, and help prepare games and outings.  If you are interested you will need to apply at the school and let us know!

Sunday School Teacher:

As a teacher you get the opportunity to build relationships and teach God's word to some amazing students.  Here at Mount Vernon we believe that Sunday School gives us the best opportunity to share the love of Christ in a small group setting.  Teachers are expected to study and come prepared, build relationships, and to help organize Sunday School mission projects in our community.

Sunday School Assistant:

Don't let the title fool you!  A Sunday School Teacher Assistant is responsible for helping keep student information current, to contact students, build relationships, and to teach from time to time.

DT Teacher:

On Sunday nights our Discipleship Training groups meet to study God's word!  We like to provide a variety of options and are always looking for volunteers with a passion to teach.

Throughout the year we have many events from mission trips and camps to concerts and bowling.  Each of them require adults who are willing to have a good time and invest in the lives of our teens!

If you are interested in any of these areas please don't hesitate to contact us as we would like to get to know you and here about your passion for ministry!
