Confidential, Christ-centered Counseling

The Counseling Ministry at Mount Vernon Baptist Church is staffed with Master level professionals who are committed to combining Biblical truth with clinical skills. Working with individuals of all ages including children, adolescents, young & older adults, couples and families, it is the goal of this ministry to help those we serve make progress in their spiritual growth as well as bringing hope and healing in the area of emotional and mental health. Some of the issues addressed are: depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship and marital challenges, infidelity, divorce, parenting, addictive behaviors as well as other life struggles and transitions. Our therapists are nationally certified and state licensed professionals. Confidentiality and privacy are not only of great importance to our counseling staff but are protected by federal and state laws as well. We are seeking qualified counselors to join our team!

Opening for licensed LMFT, LPC, LPCA or LCSW, and/or experienced pastoral counselors to join an established counseling ministry in Boone, NC. We are seeking someone that is experienced and skilled at working with marriages, couples, adults families, children and/or adolescents.

Candidates must have a Masters Degree in counseling or the equivalent seminary education; an evidence-based understanding of treatment with a Christian integration of clinical skills from a Biblical worldview is essential.

The position is for an independent contractor with flexibility in hours as determined by counselor and client needs.

Elizabeth has experience in a wide range of areas, including community mental health and Christian counseling as well as career and life coaching. She works with people ages 13 and up, and especially enjoys working with college students and young adults as well as couples. Elizabeth has a passion for helping people set and reach their goals. She sees counseling as an opportunity to walk with others as they seek God’s guidance for growth, healing and change.

Jennifer Greene, MA, LPC

Jennifer works with adults, couples, and adolescents struggling with sexual identity, self-injury, anxiety, depression, crisis pregnancy, grief and loss, co-dependency, and interpersonal relationships, among other life issues. She has also received professional training at Texas Christian University Institute of Child Development in Trust Based Relational Intervention in order to serve adoptive/foster children and their families. Her passion is to treat each client uniquely by meeting them where they are.

Annette Ward, LCSW, LCAS

Annette has more than 15 years working primarily in public mental health and private practice with families, children, adolescents and women providing therapy and program management. Her dual training in substance use disorders and mental health allows her to provide care for a greater range of difficulties. She desires to work with each person and/or family through God’s grace and mercy for healing and restoration.

Gregory Ward, MA, LPCA, NCC

Greg has experience serving children, adolescents, families and men's issues beginning in the public mental health system in 1999. Most recently, Greg serves in the capacity of School Counselor since 2003. He has experience with clients that have developmental disabilities, adjustment issues, depression, anxiety, anger, grief and loss, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, separation and divorce issues, social skills training needs, relational stress, men's issues, couples and other relational emotional and behavioral concerns. Greg was ordained as a deacon in 2005, and currently serves in his church as a Sunday School Teacher and as a member of the Finance Committee.

K. Leigh LyallMA, NCC, NCSC, NBPTS

 Leigh has served as  a school counselor  (working with    students in grades  K-12) for twenty-five  years. She has also  taught several  graduate-level  counseling courses  as an adjunct  instructor at  Appalachian State  University. Leigh has  experience working  with individuals of  all ages (children,  adolescents, college  students, and  women) on personal  and interpersonal  issues, including:  anxiety, depression,  crisis situations,  grief/loss,  perfectionism,  relationships, school  issues, self-esteem,  self-harm, and  stress. She feels  privileged to walk alongside people wherever they are, as they together seek God's purpose and will for the counselee's life.

Counseling sessions are scheduled for fifty (50) minutes and are generally limited to eight to ten sessions per client.  Appointments are scheduled to meet both the client’s schedule as well as the counselor’s availability. A suggested donation of $35 per session is greatly appreciated to support the ministry. Priority will be given to Mount Vernon members and regular attendees of Sunday School and other ministries. There may be occasions when Mount Vernon may offer the Counseling Ministry to others in the High Country based on counselor availability.  A suggested donation of $55 per session for non-members is also greatly appreciated to support the ministry.
